STILL LIFE Fusion Electric Kettle

From Atomic bombs to the supply of domestic electricity nuclear power is a phenomenal force that presents a huge array of applications.

Fusion is the energy source of the Universe, occurring in the core of the Sun and stars. We have used it for warfare in the form of an atomic bomb. We have used fission, a different but similar process to fuel power stations to supply domestic electricity to our homes and places of work. It is an incredible force that we have harnessed for good and for massive destruction.

From Charlie Chaplain’s questioning of the machine in the film ‘Modern Times’ to Umberto Boccioni’s exhilarating ideals about technology’s possibilities ‘modern-day’ artists have created a vital and powerful dialog about the impact of technology from the beginning of the industrial revolution.
